Holly goes swimming to lose weight and local TV anchor Susan Bahorich bursts into giggles as she introduces Holly.

Susan Bahorich, just can't keep her cool as she introduces the footage of the 13-year-old feline doing laps in a pet resort - complete with cat life-jacket.

She breaks into giggles as she introduces 'Holly, the 13-year-old cat, who dislikes the outdoors and other physical activities'.

By the time she mentions the Olde Towne Pet Resort in Dulles, Virginia, where Holly is in 'training' she completely breaks down.

Still giggling she urges viewers to 'stay with them' before she is cut out for a break.

Holly's owner Dani Lawhorne regularly takes her pet for swims in the pool - usually reserved for dogs - in the hope she will lose weight.

She weighs twice the weight of an average house cat despite going for regular swims since May 2012.

He is put in a life jacket and guided by a member of staff in the water.

'It's the only physical activity this cat has,' Olde Towne publicist Mayra Ruiz-McPherson told TODAY.com . 'Otherwise, she is a one thousand per cent couch potato.'

Holly's owner was trying to figure out a way to get her obese cat some exercise when she gave the pool a try.

Lawhorne works at Olde Towne and says she thought her cat would take to the water because she doesn't fuss too much during baths.

'It was more an experiment than anything,' Ruiz-McPherson said. '(Lawhorne) saw that the cat didn't get too upset when she gave it baths, so she thought, ''I wonder what would happen if I threw her butt in the pool?''

The cat visits to the pool every other week.

The rest of the time, she relaxes at home watching Maury Povich's daytime talk show and moves around as little as possible.

'When I was talking to the owner, she said what the cat loves to do is lay in blankets all day long and watch TV, and her favorite show is when Maury Povich does the paternity test,' Ruiz-McPherson
